A Simple Mindfulness Trick

You've likely heard a lot about mindfulness lately.

Mindfulness is important, effective and relatively simple.

However, some are turned off by the idea, thinking it may be “too complicated” “too time-consuming” or “too zen”. It really isn’t any of those things though.

A simple way to begin to introduce mindfulness into your day is just to think about paying attention.

Pay attention to where you’re walking.

Pay attention to what you see or smell or taste.

We often miss a lot of pleasurable experiences because of inattention for the sake of multi-tasking “efficiency”. A motivation for adding a little mindfulness to your day is to think about it as adding pleasure to your day.

Notice more, feel more.

The smell of a nice flower, the feeling of a warm sip of tea.

Instead of missing these through a busy day, stop and notice the pleasant sensation.

Mindfulness is a key technique we often use in therapy; it can reduce anxiety, improve mood and ground you when re-experiencing traumatic events.

We would be happy to talk with you about more ways to implement mindfulness into your daily life. The best way to start is to contact us. We’ll schedule a short, free consultation and develop a plan for your future mindfulness journey.
