Teenage Mental Health: How to Know if Your Teen Needs Help
How do you know if your teenager needs help? How do you know if they are experiencing typical teen angst or something more? Teenage mental health is so important. According to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Health), suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death in children 10-24. Depression and anxiety are common amongst teens, however it does not always look like what we expect it to in an adult and is often missed.
If you’re concerned about your teenage child’s mental health here are a few things to look for:
-Withdrawn and isolating more than usual -Dramatic change in sleep (more or less)
-Doing poorly in school or missing significant amounts of school all of a sudden
-Not spending time doing things they used to love (sports, spending time with friends) -Irritable
